Columbia Hickman Lacrosse Head Coach

Head Coach Brandon Huck Columbia Hickman Lacrosse Club

Brandon Huck

Coach Huck was born and raised in Columbia, MO and part of the first Columbia Hickman Lacrosse team.  He played lacrosse for three years at Hickman and was named to the All-Conference team his senior year.  After High School he played lacrosse at the University of Missouri. Coach Huck believes every athlete should be able to experience athletics in college.

He returned to the Columbia Hickman Lacrosse Club around 2004 as the JV coach taking an 0-12 team to 6 wins in his first year.  A few years later Coach Huck was named Head Coach of the Columbia Hickman Varsity program, and coached for 8 years. After taking some time off, Coach came back as the Head Coach in 2020.

Known for his intense approach to the game and coaching style he expects a lot from the players and asks that they give everything they have each day.  Coach Huck believes that while you can’t control the outcome of games, because on any given day any team can be beat, what you can control is the effort that you put forth, on and off of the field.  He is dedicated to helping players understand this.

As a competitor Coach loves to win, but positively influencing a young player’s dreams and goals says a lot more about a coaching staff than the number of goals, wins or college scholarships.  One of Coach Huck’s favorite quotes is from Rocky Balboa.  “The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows, it’s very mean and nasty place.  It’ll knock you down and keep you down if you let it.  But it’s not how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward.  You have to be willing to take the hits, that’s how winning is done.”

He embraces it as a coaching motto and believes it can help carry Columbia Hickman Lacrosse Club players on and off of the field and make them the best people they can be.
