Player Eligibility
Established in 2002, Hickman Lacrosse is a club sport offered to 9th – 12th grade boys who are interested in playing high school level lacrosse. Students enrolled at Hickman High School, students who are home schooled or attend a private school in the Hickman district, and students who attend a school that does not offer lacrosse and Hickman is the closest school, are eligible to play for the Hickman Lacrosse Club. All players must academically be passing at least five classes to participate.
Governing Board
Hickman Lacrosse Club is governed and financed solely by its members. The governing board is comprised of four elected officials and five committee chairs, all of whom are team parents. Each board and committee member serves a one-year term.
2011-12 Board and Committee Members
Cost
Each player is required to pay a registration and uniform fee and be a member of US Lacrosse. Full registration and uniform deposit must be paid in full by the December meeting. The club will provide each player with a team uniform. New players are required to purchase a team helmet, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, mouth pieces, and a stick.
Operational expenses financed through registration dues and club fund raising include, but are not limited to, coaching staff and their expenses, referee fees, field fees, MSLA dues, tournament fees, team equipment (balls, nets, etc), and the awards banquet.
Conditioning, Practice, and Games
Pre-season conditioning begins in February 2-3 times per week with mandatory daily practices beginning March 1 at the open field behind the ARC. Varsity and junior varsity games are played mid-March thru mid-May and are played in Columbia as well as out-of-town. A summer league is typically formed for players interested in maintaining and sharpening their skills.
Family Involvement
All parents are encouraged to participate in one or more club committees. All players are required to participate in fund raising events and are expected to support the coaches and all members of the Hickman Lacrosse Club at all times.
Player/parent meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month beginning in September and ending in March.
Season Highlights
Highlights of the season include the Louisville Ice Breaker Tournament in Louisville, KY the second weekend in March, the Golden Crosse game against Rock Bridge High School toward the end of the season, and the post-season alumni game.
